Writing a Vision Statement for The Job/Business/Relationship You’d Love (some of these questions lovingly taken from Coach Noelle Janka)
A vision statement is what you’d LOVE to experience, not what our mind tells us is “realistic.” Seeing this vision clearly gives you the greatest opportunity to have it happen, and being clear about what you’d really love is one of the best ways to begin to
a) make it happen and
b) combat the negative chatter and internal conversations that can get in the way of making it happen.
Writing this vision statement is truly one of the most courageous (and scariest!) acts you can take in service to you. Notice what comes up for you. What kind of thoughts linger about vision writing.
Why Have a Vision?
- Focus your energy
- Stay committed
- Make decisions with ease
- Enroll others in the vision and get support
- Get fucking excited about the future
Example
- I have FINANCIAL ABUNDANCE. I’m making $70,000 a year with ease. I’m working 30 hours a week, leaving time to dedicate to my personal pursuits. I’m paying my college debt with ease. I’m paying for any healing that I need with ease.
Common Pitfall: Not specific enough
- The vision is too vague, not specific enough, and/or lacking vivid details.
- EXAMPLE: I love going to work everyday. I get to wear what I want and my colleagues are awesome. I appreciate how flexible it is and the work is very interesting. I make a lot more money than I did before and I am beginning to pay off my debts.
What You Might Include In Your Vision
- What you’ll do at your job/business/relationship when you’re there
